Kruger Park Conference Accommodation


Of all the reasons to visit Kruger National Park, the best reason to use Letaba Camp is the variety of accommodation options. If you are a big group, there is no need for worry, your needs can be catered for. Letaba Camp is well known for Elephant and bird sightings.


Accommodation includes 20 tents that will have either 2 or 4 beds. The tents have been made on cement floors and feature cupboards, fans, tables, chairs, fridges and electric lighting. For those who would like to feel like an intrepid explorer, there are 50 campsites with electric outlets and 10 bush camping sites. The campsites have the added advantage of massive lawns and shady trees. Guests must bring their own caravan or tent for the campsites. Guests staying in tents or on the campsites, make use of the communal ablution facilities.


There are 5 huts in Letaba which feature 3 beds. If you stay in a hut, you will need to make use of the communal kitchen and ablution facilities. For a step up on the accommodation, there are cottages, bungalows and 2 guest houses. The 10 cottages each come with 6 beds, French doors leading onto a spacious living room, open-plan kitchen, air-conditioning and 2 bathrooms. There are facilities for the physically handicapped.


There are a total of 86 Bungalows with air-conditioning. Each bungalow contains 2 or 3 beds, an en-suite shower and a toilet. Each bungalow has a fridge, while some feature a two-plate stove and a sink. Communal cooking facilities are available. The 2 guest houses are Fish Eagle and Melville. Fish Eagle sleeps 8 guests and Melville sleeps 9 guests with all facilities onsite.

Kruger Park Conference Venue Location


The drive from Johannesburg to Phalaborwa Gate takes +-6 to 7 hours. Driving from Phalaborwa Gate to the camp is a one-an-half-hour drive. In the Letaba Region there are 3 rivers; the Great Letaba, the Middle Letaba and the Small Letaba. Wonderful game viewing can be done at these spots.

Routes from Johannesburg / Pretoria to Phalaborwa Gate


Take the N1 toll-road to Polokwane (Pietersburg). Forty kilometres (24 miles) before Polokwane turn right onto the R71 and head for Tzaneen. After going pass Tzaneen head towards Phalaborwa. Allow between 6 to 7 hours for the trip to the gate.


Letaba Main Rest Camp is 51 kilometres (31 miles) away from the gate. Allow about 2 hours for the drive to the camp, however, if you want to enjoy the game viewing possibilities, give yourself more time.


Kruger Park Conference Accommodation


Participate in all sorts of activities. From game viewing to bush walks, scenic tours, adrenaline activities and historical interest activities. In the restcamp itself, you can sit at a vantage point and watch the wildlife come in for a drink or spend some time at the Matambeni Hide for bird viewing.


African wildlife commonly seen in the Letaba area include Elephant, Lion, Cheetah, rodents, Vervet Monkey, birds, bats and buck species. Other species you might be interested in can be seen if you drive around a bit.


Elephant Hall


At Letaba Restcamp you will be lucky that you can walk over to the Elephant Hall. Here you can learn about the social structure distribution, ecology, morphology, physiology, origin and evolution of the Elephant species.
